Omega Spedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Black Black Review
All the Omega Speedmaster dark side of the moon are powered by the Omega Caliber 9300
that according to Omega "Complete with an innovative column wheel mechanism and Si14 silicon balance spring, the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 9300 is the first of our exclusive in-house movements to incorporate a chronograph function. The 12-hour and 60-minute counter hands are placed on the same sub-dial at 3 o'clock allowing for an intuitive reading of the recorded time."
This review today is about the black black version, perhaps the most niche of the line:
the watch is entirely black but is is not as hard to read with the right lighting :
As you can see in the photos it can appear pitch black but you can easily distinguish both the hands, indexes and date (which is also blackened!).
The watch, thanks for the ceramic case, it is very light. The version with the deployment clasp (with titanium and ceramic) is very comfortable.
I found the Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Black Black very versatile, the most stealth of the line and very understated.
Versatile because you can wear it with a suit but with a sporty outfit too. The nylon/leather straps adds to the versatiliy. Stealth because of the color scheme that makes is very understated.
Omega Speemasters are certainy iconic but mostly are powered by manual movements (for historical reasons, also highly sought by fans is the new line powered by the caliber 321) and from experience I can say that are not the best to wind due to the crown guards. Even the Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary with caliber 3861 seems to suffer from the same winding issues. For this reason I think that the whole line powered by the caliber 9300 is fantastic. It offers a very reliable (if not the best) automatic chronograph movement, anti magnetic and with a date window which is very useful.
In summary, this is perfect watch for CEOs that are looking for something understated, unique and functional.
